This is almost 2% increase from the previous 4th of July and nearly 14% or about 5 million or more people during the Memorial Day weekend this year.

Typically, the 4th of July holiday is one of the busiest travel holidays of the year. Travel size for Independence Day has increased in four of the past five years and is anticipated to grow 6% higher than the average for the past ten years. AAA describes the 4th of July travel period from today to July 6. Most of the travelers, approximately 8 out of 10, are expected to travel by land this year. Nationally, the average rate of a regular gas rises up to $3.68 per gallon. This has been the highest average price for the 4th of July since 2008.
